Three phase power was required to operate the 30HP flour-mill and a range of other three phase equipment, as the three phase loads are spread out over a large area a wireless start/stop control was used to eliminate control system nightmares.

They needed to upgrade the irrigation to 3 x 22kw pumps operated via one of the existing VSDs to control pressure and needed to utilise the full capacity of the supply transformer , we offered the R/75/480U rotary converter to convert the 480VAC single phase supply to 415 volt three phase to supply a "off the shelf pump system" with standout results in the form of efficiency, voltage & current asymmetry with none of the effects of harmonics apparent.
How we achieved these results:
- Six stage VolTrak system, that ensures high efficiency through good voltage asymmetry throughout the load spectrum.
- Floating pole rotaries ( FPRs ) coupled with modified rotors ensure:
1) High efficiency
2) Low circulating currents
3) Lower power costs
4) Low harmonics throughout the load spectrum, THDV < 3% and THDI < 8% under full load.
5) High power factor, typically 0.99 - NO high speed electronic switching devices used to switch capacitors.

Castle Rock Estate
We re-visited Rob Diletti at Castle Rock estate where the R75/480 POLYPHAZ single to three phase converter has been in operation for more than 15 years operating a range of wine processing equipment and refrigeration plant.
Olive Farms
The York olive oil company required three phase power to operate the olive processing equipment, however three phase power was many kilometers & many thousands of dollars to get connected so a POLYPHAZ rotary converter R/37/480b was installed to operate all the equipment at this rural location limited to a single phase supply source.
DeLaval Robotic Dairy Farm
Hicks A.M.S dairy required three phase power to operate the Delaval Automatic Milking system in Denmark Western Australia.
Three phase power was many kilometers and many thousands of dollars to get connected making the venture unviable, that’s where the POLYPHAZ converter fits in with its high efficiency design , serviceable in the field and proven track record in the dairy industry.
Water Treatment
This rural town was limited to a single phase power supply but required three phase power to run approx 32 kW of load to operate the treatment plant, an R/37/480c rotary converter was specified by the consultant.
Woodworking
We recently revisited this job on the 11/11/2010 , approx 3 years ago they moved from York back to Margaret River and set up the workshop with some serious wood working machinery, approx 30 KW in total all operating from one R37/480c rotary converter, after some initial voltage drop problems the workshop has been up and running now for about 3 years producing some fantastic pieces.
Environment
Single to Three phase POLYPHAZ Rotary Converters
Lake Toolibin is located approx 250 Km from Perth Western Australia , three phase power was required to operate 2 x 11kw compressors , 1 x 7.5kw pump operated by a Danfoss VSD , however three phase power was many Kms away & very expensive to get connected.
A POLYPHAZ rotary converter was selected as the most cost effective solution.The converter operates continuously with compressors cycling off /on load to supply compressed air to the AIRWELL pumps , both pumps supply the tank with salt water which in turn is pumped out of the tank via the 1 x 7.5kw pump.
The VOLTRAK option was required as a good voltage asymmetry was necessary to operate the VSD & to get the required performance from the air compressors at this location, installation date approx 1993. Since 2010 a VolTTraker unit was also installed to provide a stable 480volt input supply.
Refigeration
Twin lakes are located in Manjimup Western Australia; three phase power from the power utility was out of the question to run the three phase cool rooms to chill the broccoli at this rural location, an R/75/480b POLYPHAZ converter was specified to operate these loads via 2 x 50KVA single phase transformers.
